# Reading small-town bus and rail information for Brittany

“Can I get from a train at Morlaix to the right stop in Roscoff?” is a better starting question than “Does Roscoff have public transport?” The first asks about a usable journey. The second can be answered yes while leaving your arrival date, destination and return unresolved.

This worked research example follows the Morlaix–Roscoff corridor in Finistère. It shows how municipal guidance, a railway-station page, an operator timetable and a temporary notice answer different questions. It is not a live itinerary or a guarantee that a particular train and coach connect.

## Establish the corridor before choosing a departure

Roscoff's municipal mobility page directs travellers arriving from Paris to take a train to Morlaix and then coach line 929 to Roscoff. It lists three Roscoff stops: Ferry, Quai d'Auxerre and Pontigou. Its local summer Roskobus is a separate service, advertised for 6 July–29 August 2026; that summer notice is not evidence of an October shuttle. [Roscoff municipal guidance](https://www.roscoff.bzh/connaitre-roscoff/stationnement-mobilites/stationnement-mobilites-3/)

The railway operator's Morlaix station page independently lists BreizhGo 929 towards Santec/Roscoff. This confirms the coach as a station-area transport lead, not the timing of your transfer. A station information page also distinguishes building opening from ticket-counter opening. Neither kind of opening hour is a departure timetable. Write down your actual destination before selecting a stop. The name Ferry does not mean every journey in the corridor serves it. Nor should a familiar town name persuade you that two differently named stops are interchangeable. Establish which stop your chosen coach actually serves and how you will reach the final address.

## Read the current sheet, not the first PDF a search finds

Élorn bus & cars lists separate line-929 sheets for summer and for **1 September–12 December 2026**. Both may remain discoverable. Choose by the printed validity period and your travel date, not by whichever search result is easiest to open. [Operator timetable index](https://elorn-busetcars.fr/lignes-regulieres/circuits-itineraires-horaires-breizhgo/)

The autumn sheet has separate directions, day-of-week columns, school-period and school-holiday rows, and notes. Its legend distinguishes M for Tuesday from Me for Wednesday. Note A moves the Saint-Pol-de-Léon tourist-office stop to Avenue des Carmes on Tuesday market days. The document also warns that traffic delays matter when choosing a connection. These details are reasons to follow one applicable column and its notes rather than copying a time from another day. [Line 929 autumn sheet, both pages](https://elorn-busetcars.fr/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/1232257-L929-hiv26-HD.pdf)

For your own check, record the direction, exact stop, date, relevant school-period category and any letter attached to the selected service. Then read down that same column. Start a separate check for the return: it is not safe to reverse the outward times or assume that a late outward service implies a late return.

The sheet was checked visually as well as through extracted text. Flattened PDF text can mix content that is not part of the visible table, and a wide timetable can lose its column alignment in a search snippet. This article therefore does not reproduce a departure-time list. Use the actual readable sheet and current operator information for your date.

## A valid timetable can still be changed by a dated notice

The operator published a specific notice on 28 September 2026: during the Foire haute, **Morlaix–Viaduc is not served by lines 929 and 2903 from 6 through 26 October 2026**, with passengers directed to Morlaix–Gare SNCF. The notice gives an additional, separately worded qualification for line 2903. Do not transfer that qualification to every 929 service. [Operator disruption notice](https://elorn-busetcars.fr/foire-haute-au-centre-ville-de-morlaix-larret-morlaix-viaduc-ne-sera-pas-desservi-par-les-lignes-929-et-2903/)

This is a dated example, not a standing instruction to avoid Viaduc forever. It demonstrates why a traveller must check disruptions after locating the timetable. The notice's end date is not a guarantee that no other change will apply afterwards. A generic route map and a valid timetable cannot, by themselves, rule out a temporary stop change.

For a station transfer, the distinction matters: Morlaix–Viaduc and Morlaix–Gare SNCF are different stop names. Do not substitute one silently when recording a journey. If the information you find names a replacement stop, keep both the original and replacement in your note, together with the notice's dates.

## Check the ticket separately from the connection

BreizhGo's Finistère information page describes limited same-day transfer arrangements between specified coach and urban-bus services. It explicitly excludes TER BreizhGo from those free-transfer arrangements. A train followed by a coach is therefore not automatically covered by the coach network's transfer rule. Verify the tickets for your actual itinerary; this article does not assess an individual fare product. [BreizhGo Finistère information](https://www.breizhgo.bzh/reseau-breizhgo/car/finistere)

The same page describes traffic alerts as information about planned or anticipated disruptions, not a complete account of every road delay. Receiving no alert would not establish that your connection is safe. No alert subscription or ticket purchase was made for this article. [Network information and alerts](https://www.breizhgo.bzh/reseau-breizhgo/car/finistere)

If you need assistance, bicycle carriage or particular boarding arrangements, verify the relevant service and stop conditions rather than extending a general symbol into an end-to-end guarantee. Allow for reaching the coach from the train platform and finding the correct boarding point. There is no universal transfer buffer that this article can responsibly insert for every traveller.

## Keep a journey note with visible gaps

| Check | Record for your journey |
|---|---|
| Date and purpose | Actual travel date and final address |
| Train leg | Train identification and scheduled arrival from a current rail source |
| Coach leg | Line, direction, exact boarding and alighting stops |
| Applicable service | Day category, school-period category and relevant notes |
| Temporary changes | Dated notice, affected stop and replacement, if any |
| Transfer | Your route between boarding points and an allowance you have assessed |
| Tickets | Each required ticket or explicitly confirmed combined product |
| Return | A separately checked journey, not the outward trip reversed |
| Unresolved | Anything still requiring operator confirmation |

Leave an unanswered field visible rather than filling it with a plausible estimate. “The corridor exists” and “this exact journey works for me” are different conclusions. The useful result is a journey you have checked in its parts, with the remaining uncertainties clear enough to resolve before travel.

*Source note: The cited municipal, railway, regional-network and coach-operator sources were read on 26 October 2026. The autumn PDF's two visible pages were inspected. A separate summer PDF returned an access error and was not used as verified timetable evidence. No real-time departure feed, booking, transfer walk or journey was tested. Recheck dated documents and disruption notices for the day you actually travel.*
