# Reading small-town bus and rail information for Corsica

“Can I use the local minibus from Piana for an October sightseeing day?” sounds like a timetable question. First, though, it is a question about the kind of service, its purpose and its operating period. A year-round transport-on-demand service is not automatically a replacement for every summer bus.

In the Spelunca-Liamone area, two official sources appear to tell different seasonal stories. One describes fixed routes running in summer; another gives a transport dataset valid through winter. The difference is worth understanding before choosing a stop.

## The transport authority distinguishes two offers

The community of communes' transport page describes five fixed-route services—Littoral, Deux Sevi, Deux Sorru, Cruzzini and Cinarca—under a stated **1 June–30 September** season. Separately, it describes transport on demand throughout the year for journeys to nearby services, including shopping, appointments and administrative tasks, with reservation at least 24 hours ahead. [Spelunca-Liamone transport information](https://www.spelunca-liamone.corsica/transports/)

It also says an adapted vehicle is available on request but that the driver provides driving, not accompaniment. Resident pricing requires supporting documentation. An available vehicle type, a concessionary price and permission to make a particular journey are therefore separate questions.

On that published description, the October sightseeing trip is **unconfirmed and needs a direct service check**. The demand-responsive offer is purpose-limited; its year-round wording does not itself authorise an arbitrary sightseeing trip. Likewise, the fixed-route season shown on this page cannot simply be extended into October. Ask the service to confirm whether another current arrangement applies rather than treating the missing answer as either a guaranteed yes or a universal no.

## What if another official page appears to extend the season?

The national transport-data portal, for data published by the intercommunal transport operator, shows a static U Vagabondu dataset with validity **1 October 2026–1 April 2027**. It also lists older summer resources and a real-time alerts resource. Those dates are metadata for the published dataset, not a passenger itinerary. [U Vagabondu on the national transport-data portal](https://transport.data.gouv.fr/datasets/u-vagabondu)

The dataset's overall validity does not identify a particular departure. Here only its metadata—not individual routes, calendars or stop times—has been checked. The summer Littoral trip cannot be extended into October from that date range alone, and an alerts feed is not a live vehicle location.

When asking for clarification, be specific: “Your service page gives June–September for fixed lines, while the published dataset covers an October–April period. What service, if any, covers this stop and destination on this date?” That is more useful than asking whether “the buses” run in winter.

## Rail adds another timetable and another set of conditions

For a journey involving Corte, use the railway operator's own timetable page. At the source check, its main notice gives a validity period of **31 August–1 November 2026 inclusive** and separates main-line services from suburban Ajaccio, Bastia and Balagne tables. A summer table or a suburban table is not interchangeable with the relevant main-line table. [CFC timetable page](https://cf-corse.corsica/horaires/)

The CFC FAQ says reservations are accepted for groups of ten or more and do not guarantee seats; otherwise it directs passengers to buy on the day, preferably at the station or on the train. It explicitly says connections with boats and planes are not guaranteed. For an optional stop, it describes using the stop-request button near the train doors when alighting and signalling the driver when boarding. Those procedures apply to optional stops, not automatically to every station. [CFC passenger FAQ](https://cf-corse.corsica/faq/)

Buying a ticket on the day is not the same as having a seat reserved. For a rail-to-bus connection, the train arrival, onward departure and transfer between stops still need checking separately.

## Finish with a journey decision, not a collage of links

For each leg, record the service name, precise stop, travel date, applicable timetable and any purpose or reservation restriction. Then add a separate return leg. If using transport on demand, obtain a confirmed arrangement rather than treating an enquiry or form submission as acceptance.

For the opening October question, the useful answer remains precise: the transport authority's purpose limits for transport on demand need checking against the proposed outing, and any winter service needs identifying by route and date. For a journey through Corte, select the railway table for the right line and period before adding a connection. A year-round label and a line on a map are beginnings of a travel plan, not its completion.
